I have been incredibly fortunate to be part of some great consumer brands over the last 25 years.
I founded and was CEO of Athleta which is a leader in the women’s active market and is now owned by Gap, Inc. I was then President of Miraval Living, an amazing destination wellness spa and resort company. Following that experience, I went on to become CEO of prAna Living, an active apparel company focused on sustainability. We grew the company rapidly, while deepening the commitment to better labor and environmental practices, leading to an acquisition by Columbia Sportswear. Next, I was CEO of Nixon, Inc. the action sports, youth-focused brand. I also sit on the board of Simms Fishing Products and Boardriders, which owns some outstanding brands such as Quiksilver, Billabong, Roxy, DC Shoes, Element and RVCA.
I joined Stride as an operating partner in 2021. Having sat in the seat of many of the leaders of the companies we support at Stride, I have a keen understanding of what they are going through. I see my role as listening and supporting their growth as a sounding board for them and sharing my own experiences where relevant.
I teach Advanced Strategy & Leadership at the graduate business school at the University of Oregon and spent my undergraduate years at Boston College where I played rugby, which I am reminded of every day when I wake up and don’t jump out of bed with quite the agility I once displayed! I try and spend as much time outdoors as humanly possible either in Southern California or in the mountains in Utah.
